Be Safe Online

The Irish government offer a portal through the gov.ie service which hosts a series of links to guides, videos, websites and services covering the area of online safety. This service is called the BeSafeOnline service which can be found by clicking the image on the right.

The following services fall under the EU Safer Internet Ireland initiative and are co-financed by the European Union’s connecting Europe facility:

Webwise

WebWise.ie is a web-service offering advice, videos, explanations, talking points and blogs covering many areas pertaining to online safety. Their guides are aimed at teachers, parents and children. They also incorporate the Irish governments ‘safer internet day’ (An event organised yearly to raise awareness regarding internet safety) as well as the governments BeInCtrl initiative (Junior cycle S.P.H.E. educational resource addressing sexual coercion). Hotline

Hotline.ie is a service that provides anonymous facilities for both children and parents to report illegal activity and content while also providing information relating to internet safety. A link to hotline.ie can be found by clicking the image on the right.

The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (ISPCC) operates child-line which is a 24 hour service where children having issues relating to the internet may seek help and guidance. This service can be reached by clicking on the image to the right.

CyberSafeIreland

CyberSafeIreland is the leading charity covering online internet safety. Their primary role in this area is the continuous generating of data gathered from in depth research conducted with Irish parents and children through individual surveys and schools for the purposes of producing their yearly annual report. This report is one of the back bones of the research into online safety and the risk associate with it. This service can be reached by clicking on the image to the right.
